App Parity is Everything

iOS vs Android is more than just hardware.

In 2008 Mobile Software Applications, or just apps changed the landscape of everything. Over night phones went from small self-contained computers into true digital Swiss Army knives. Without Apple launching its App Store and Google following suit with the then-named Android Market household names like Uber, Instagram and Spotify would never have taken off, their services either confined to a home computer or still sitting in Travis Kalanik’s brain.

Apps became so ubiquitous so quickly that Apple’s own marketing proclaimed “There is an App for that and it wasn’t wrong. In 2024 there really is a phone application for everything you can think of. But somewhere along the way things changed and not for the better because for not everyone has every app.

A little earlier than usual, likely influenced by a certain headset coming to market Samsung have been first out of the gate in 2024 with new phones. With the usual solid build, high stats and some clever AI smarts the S24 series will provide a nice upgrade for people on the 3-year cycle.

For the rest of Jan/Feb you’re likely to read across the tech press glowing reviews about how great the devices are and watch a bazillion videos sizing it up to the iPhone 15 line, in particular the S24 Ultra vs the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
