Apple and Meta both have AR the wrong way round. The are both working on the basis of data push rather than data pull.

All around us is a world of IoT sensors whose frequency is only getting denser. Platforms like Find My and Amazon Sidewalk leverage the penetration of devices rather than a backend.

Being able to parse this data for the benefit of citizens becomes the benefit of AR, where open standards pull information from the local viscinity. Physical property and public spaces become the website and the AR platform the browser.

And as with all browsers, the architecture will be open-ended to allow any company to build a device to common standards.
