Apple is literally the only company effected though. Nobody who has a Samsung Phone or Nintendo console is complaining. Apple fans might actually have an arguement if the big old fruit didn’t already use USB-C across its entire line of computers for charging!

Whilst companies should be free to develop their own technologies free of state intervention this should not come at the detriment of consumers. The state exists to break up monopolies and ensure fair competition for all other companies and has done this for centuries.
