Apple should be showing the rest of the industry how its done. Look at what the iPhone 4 and iPhone X did for handset design.
Samsung used to be the company that tried to one-up Apple by trying to second-guess them and it never really worked out (See: Galaxy Gear) but these days seem content to go where they like and to hell with them.
I'm not saying foldables are the future but those who have managed to make them work for them swear by them so they must be doing something right. More Android manufacturers have jumped on that bandwagon than LiDAR or facial scanners, thats for sure.
Apple make great handsets that absolutely nail the basics consumers are looking for. But they also have a line of expensive, allegedly 'Pro' handsets that try to upsell customers using features found on £200 Androids.
Where is the industry-defining features? Where is the new big gun idea?
