AR needs to be boring. It needs to be dull. It needs to tell you the weather and the right height of bathwater for your child. It needs to tell you what is out of date just by glancing in the fridge and then what recipes to make with that food. It needs to do all this because it needs to be useful.
If we are just going to turn the world into a giant video game then we need to stop now. AR done properly adds value to local spaces and brings people together.
We do this by embedding IOT sensors in everything and then using AR as a way to parse and navigate that data so you know when the trees in your street were last watered or which neighbours you can redirect your surplus renewable energy to.
AR and spatial computing is the next big platform because it is the one way we can free ourselves from the life-sucking ideas of the metaverse and add value back to IRL but it needs to be done at a local level within a community.
