As a ledger technology there is definite promise for Ethereum but as a data storage medium it has far too many limitations.
A centralised server system can be infinitely expanded and rewritten to Petabytes of storage and beyond as needed.
With a blockchain every node must have every piece of data for the network to have value and nobody has the sort of local storage needed for the scale it needs to operate. Things are not rewritable but need reminting every time there are changes. The only solution would be for it to operate like a giant torrent network but that depends on the constant exchange of data too.
Has anyone in blockchain found a workaround for this?
