ChatGPT will be the saviour of education, not its downfall.

As soon as students adopt it en masse there will be landslide of pushback from traditional educators as it instantly devalues all their assessment methods. There will calls to ban it completely.

This will fail.

Once the Genie is out, it’s out.

Instead we will see assessment move from the reconstitution of facts to problem solving, creativity and research. The purpose of education is to prepare young people for a world that does not yet exist so that when faced with a problem they choose to think instead of remember.

And we will teach students to use ChatGPT themselves by showing them how to get the right results using the right prompts.
