Climate Change and Global Warming have for decades been a ruse to hide the true problem: finite fossil fuel reserves. We've been fighting to cut emissions or offset them without tackling the root cause: wastage.

Coal, Gas, Oil and their byproducts are a requirement for every stage of the manufacture of renewable energy resources; if we run out of the stuff we won't be able to do a thing about maintaining current energy levels. 'Just Stopping Oil' isn't at any point a choice.

If we put a global cap on the amount of hydrocarbons we extract from the planet in any one year and ensure it is all used for renewable efforts rather than the manufacture of more food packaging or xmas cracker toys we could ensure that oil economies do not collapse (which is the whole global economy really) mitigate the worst effects of emissions and build energy resilience at the same time.
