Culture moves quickly, society is a lumbering beast even now.
The current political crisis can largely be attributed to a (youth) culture that says 'move quickly' and a (older) society that says 'hold on a sec'.
Someone also threw neoliberalism into the mix.
Where some Victorian industrialists, driven by their religious ideals of philanthropy sought to help their employees where the state had not yet caught up, todays billionaire class seeks to stifle the state so their employees never can.
An even faster culture will create an equal and opposite reaction from those who wish for it to slow down and the political gulf will get larger.
