Current 'AR' devices are actually (very clever!) smoke-and-mirrors VR devices that just so happen to use a 1:1 recreation of your exact surroundings to float things in front of your vision. Nor are these devices spatial computing because the computer is sat on your head.

I could argue that the Vision Pro is in fact an iPad Pro you strap to your face that just so happens to use a live video feed as your wallpaper. Devices like Hololens and Glass were a little closer to the transparent display that is needed to make it work properly.

I wrote about (https://carlst-james.medium.com/the-impact-of-horizon-zero-dawn-part-2-9cef292e3ad4) and found the AR Focus interface in the videogame Horizon Zero Dawn to be closer to what I expect AR to become, where the device pulls in data from all around you and parses it rather than being the source.
