Fermi's Paradox is largely based on the assumption that a blind cat born and trapped in a box would never believe in the existance of dogs because there is no evidence to support it.

The universe could well be teeming with life but the universe is also unimaginably vast and the gulf between solar systems is so big that it is unlikely sentient species would ever encounter each other.
