Finite lifespans are what encourages us to make our mark on the world through industry, artwork or reproduction. If we were to take that away from humanity would we see a benefit?

Assuming an expensive medical treatment immortality is likely to be only for the benefit of the rich. One saving grace of humanity is that the people in charge are not around forever; would we want to suffer the Billionaires of today for the rest of tomorrow?
