For me personally I needed a cloud-based system that plays nice across Mac OS, Windows and Chrome. The majority of workplaces are Windows-based. iCloud outside the Apple ecosystem is an area Apple doesn't want to improve (so people buy more Apple hardware; I don't disgree with this practice) and subsequently it never will.

I choose an Android handset (A Pixel 6) to go alongside my Windows desktop, iPad Pro and Chromebook and the Google cloud system so they all play nicely together.

I've been between iOS and Android many times over the years and honestly on a base level there isn't that much between them. There are still some quality apps and games Android doesn't have which is a weakness but I do like the customisation of Android. If I don't like Google's default UX I can switch it up to look like iOS, Windows Phone or something completely different if I like. With iOS its the iOS7 look or nothing at all which is fine if you like that but its not for me.
