Fossil fuels and their byproducts will remain a necessary evil whilst we transition to renewables. Campaign like ‘just stop oil’ miss the wood for the trees in that we need hydrocarbons to manufacture wind and solar farms in the first place.

What we need are laws in place to limit what can be done with extracted hydrocarbons so that we better use of available stockpiles. Solar Panels and EVs? A good use. Plastic bottles and Christmas cracker novelties? Probably worth a ban. Where there is a will there is a way; if we can end slavery, the depressingly predominant form of energy for generations then we can do this.
