Great design solves problems.

Height adjustment in my car allows it to adapt to the 95th percentile of users. Basic ergonomics, right?

Beyond a beautification of applications, what has UX done to solve problems? Most user interactions are still out of the reach of many thumbs. Why are there so many applications that cannot be used one-handed on large displays?
