Perhaps, but the village is just an evolution of tribal and pack mentality which is not just the basis of human civilisation but nearly every species on the planet.

Despite what modern culture and politics might think we were never designed to live in cages of our own making, cut off from the world. We are meant to be part of a community, a tribe and a village :)
