I am all for globalisation and a further homogeneity of human values and rights; as soon as we start acting like the one species we actually are we can start to come up with mature solutions to the problems our planet faces.

Feminism is a universal issue and I really do wish we lived in a more equitable society for everyone. But we also have to be careful not to overstep from broad rights into outright cultural colonialism because what works for one country might not work for another.

I cannot comment on the situation in Japan because I have no knlwledge but I also know that there are some cultural norms and laws in Japan that we might find discomforting but the reverse is also true.
