I am at the opposite end of the spectrum. I think there are a lot of use cases where a device like this, perhaps later down the line can be used.

There are lots of industries where being distracted by a phone or wearing a fragile, bacteria-infested watch is disadvantageous. Any sort of catering or medical establishment, for example. Pagers are horribly outdated; this could replace them.

The example of looking down during a conversation is flawed because if you're in polite interaction or a meeting, that text can wait for later. We as users need to remmeber that just because messaging is instant doesn;t mean we have to be.

Just as flip phones were inspired by Captain Kirk's communicator so has this been inspired by Captain Picard's. I'm not convinced it needs a camera but the projection display is pretty ingenius.

(I've seen a fair few articles along these lines and sympathise with the UX community for any piece of hardware that says it is the end of apps and therefore their livelihood)
