I can't disagree with this statement. Churches are becoming emptier because all the public sees is a self-important organisation obsessed with its own pageantry and debating things like whether or not women should be clergy (they should btw)
I was quite lucky to grow up in a lovely suburban community church which was not only loving and supportive but decades after its dissolution still gets together when it can. But we met in a community centre which is now a row of houses.
I think the church is still vital though. Much of its actual charity work goes unseen in the cities and villages it operates in.
