I completely get why you might skip the animation, assuming its aimed at kids (well, isn't it all really?) but you're missing out by not watching Rebels.

Its not an understatement or hyperbole to suggest this is probably Star Wars at its very best.

After watching it you will also put C1-10P 'Chopper' at the top of your droid list, if only for one handhold moment during the Rebels finale.
