I could see your arguement if you didn't start with the Apple Watch. This is a useful product for a lot of people (me included) but if we are being honest Apple hasn't really added any great software features to WatchOS since maybe 2.0. That Series 3 buyer isn't really missing out on anything meaningful from future OS updates.

If someone brought an iPhone 7 in 2019 by now it will be in need of a battery replacement (which was terrible to begin with) and is probably better off buying an iPhone 11. Not due to software updates, but better hardware.

I am one of the 2020 iPad Pro users and center stage leaves me cold. All it seems to do it make the windows smaller for the sake of a more desktop-like experience which on the 11" model just makes things harder to see.

Slightly more worrying is that beyond a pretty-but-useless multitaking change there isn't any meaningful changes to iPad OS this year at all.
