I find it fascinating how its gone full-circle. In looking at the current election it seems like a large proportion of americans don't want a President: they want a King.

As an ignorant Englishman though I would assume that one of the first things kids learn in the USA is about 1776. The entire reason the country exists is because they wanted to escape the idea of divine right to rule and taxation without representation.

We have an important document called the Magna Carta which established the idea that the King was not above the law. How curious to see the USA be on the verge of almost going back to the England of 1214.
