I hate to think how much money I have sank into Fortnite and Pokemon Go over the years! I don't really think of them as addictive in the standard F2P sense though.

Fortnite has a fun gameplay loop with the only expliotive behaviour being the scummy 'pocket change' left over after a purchase. Pokemon Go has the advantage of making you physically tired and sucking up your battery.

My general rule is only pay upfront for mobile games. Gaming addiction in the traditional sense I have always seen as relatively harmless. I remember doing nothing for 2 weeks during Christmas school break of 1997 but play Final Fantasy VII but like most single player titles it had an endpoint. It was no different than having a book I couldn't put down.

Its different when the game is designed around addictive patterns to exploit players though. There should be more regulation in this area.
