I have a unique situation where I couldn't replace my iPad Pro with a Mac even if I wanted to. I wrote a popular article on this very issue: https://medium.com/@carlst-james/how-i-use-the-ipad-pro-to-do-actual-work-aac65c7d6e39
To summarise my job as a lab technician requires all sorts of equipment and the iPad Pro is a wonderful jack of all trades. Were I to use a Mac instead I'd then have to spend an extra £30,000 on a handheld laser scanner, a field-worthy LiDAR scanner, a 4K side-angle video camera and all sorts of other gubbins.
The iPad Pro has some tradeoffs but its worth it for a 500g digital swiss army knife.
