I honestly wonder where Gurman gets his 'analysis' from. He's obviously paid to put 2+2 together but in this case he needs to get a refund on his Maths degree.

Apple are not Nintendo and only able to support one piece of hardware at a time; I'm sure they have enough money down the back of Tim Cook's office sofa alone to have 2 OS dev teams.

And I would argue that there is plenty Apple can do to improve iOS (like rebuild it for large screens) but choose not to.
