I once dragged my family onto the four-hour slow train home because it meant two things: no changeovers and longer on the train!
I waited with bated breath on the platform. We were coming back from the coast and it was due to be a busy line. Seaside lines in England tend to be 1-2 carriages. I’m normally happy to let others on first but no way I’m standing up with kids for 4 hours.
I rushed on and got us a decent table. We spent the whole journey playing UNO, Sevens, Mario Party 4-player on the prop-up Switch screen or just watching the North Yorkshire countryside go by.
It was a great journey.
