I probably need to write it myself but nobody ever seems to mention British Science Fiction sitcom Red Dwarf in any of these articles. This always bugs me because one of the co-creators, Doug Naylor puts a lot of research into the scientific concepts behind the show, even if they are used as the backdrop for something funny.

In the pilot the last human alive, Dave Lister has his bunkmate reanimated as a Hologram to stop him from going insane. Arnold Rimmer however is incredibly annoying rather than friendly and this helps distract Lister from his solitude by driving him nuts.

Take for example that in Red Dwarf there are no Aliens. Every non-human adversary they encounter is some man-made creation gone wrong, a genetically engineered life-form or robots created for a war that never took place.

There is one episode with a 3D bio-printed crew that are made when the ship reaches its destination then expire when the mission is done.

The ships 'mechanoid' Kryten has an odd-shaped head because humans find exact duplicates off putting. This is again the butt of many (very funny) jokes but also the result of some logical thinking from the writers.
