I reckon people’s issues stem from apps that have been untested with the new hardware. Android has a long history of process loops getting stuck in the RAM and overheating the device even if it seems like nothing is running. When Apple say Instagram is to blame they’re not wrong.

On Android you can get apps that allow you to clear out the RAM processes or monitor them like you can on Mac or Windows so you can see which app is causing the issue but on iOS this is inaccessible to the end user so you’ll never know the cause.

Its worst when the overheating and battery drain is being caused by an OS bug you cannot do anything about. All my pre-Pixel 6 Google devices eventually developed some sort of bug that Google never patched that made me ditch perfectly good hardware.
