I strongly argued in my own take that it is not the prevention that we need to be focussing our efforts on but the cleanup. By investing in technologies now we can make things better later on. As you say, avoiding temperature rises now is largely impossible and sooner rather than later countries will be willing to pay whatever it takes. If profit is the driving force behind cleaning the world so be it but we at least end up with a cleaner world.
