I think it speaks volumes that the TTRPG and Boardgame industries are having a renaissance at the moment and adult Lego sales and sets are through the roof. Even in the realm of videogames we are seeing higher sales of the Nintendo Switch, a console built to invite others to sit and play next to you than boxes home to 300+ hour adventures.
The pandemic made us all take stock of things and one thing we all realised we could spend better was time. I used to be a proper dedicated gamer but since 2021 I just find I cannot be bothered to sink untitled hours into a virtual story that puts barriers in the way to turning the page and only really game as a social activity.
