I think its a great show and it follows the style of Jacksons' Trilogy quite well. The family-friendly humour also makes it watchable with your kids.

But HBO ended up literally creating the new Game of Thrones with House of the Dragon which isn't really a fantasy show as much as a backstabbing medieval political drama with the odd dragon.

They get compared but I don't think they are the same sort of show at all.
