I think it’s one of the few actual proper role-playing games out there, as in you can play the game exactly as you imagine your character would. Want to be helpful even if it means sacrificing something? Go for it. Want to be a pirate and play everything cold? Be my guest.

I recently did a quest for Paradiso where you have to deal with the ship of refugees from earth some 200 years past. You have several options including settling them into indentured servitude to the hotel management, paying a huge chunk of your own cash to resettle them or even just going up to the ship in orbit and murdering all the colonists to ‘make the problem go away’.

I spent the cash because I’m not a heartless monster but the game at least gives you the option of roleplaying as such if you want to. There are few titles with this much freedom to just go off-piste and craft your own narrative.
