I wonder if its a sensible move on Meta’s part. The only reason I can think of the FTC isn’t looking into breaking it up is because they have at least one large rival in the social networking space and Facebook isn’t really seen as anything these days.

If Threads suddenly hoover up all of Twitter’s traffic then it means Meta is in de facto control of social media which might make the FTC step in and break the company up into WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram.
