I wonder if its just the commercial side of things?

The beginning and end of Podcasting is that anyone with a microphone can do it. You don't need all the camera equipment YouTube requires and editing is a lot easier. Its organic growth from hobbyist medium to professional market was always going to happen but if the bottom falls out what you have left is hobbyists doing it for fun.

So the next era will be just like the first era.
