I would argue that Netflix's undoing hasn't actually been its own fault. Its original strength was never original content but rather as an aggregation service.

Paramount, Warner, Disney etc all castleing up and offering their own subs with their own content. We are back to square one, except now rather than paying one huge cable bill and having everything you have to pay for each channel by itself. Netflix became a victim of its own success.

Netflix is now just another channel and needs its filler gameshows as much as the prestige drama. It might have moved a little too far in the former direction of late but this has actually helped it capture the youth market in ways the others could only dream of.

I hear my kids and their friends talking about Stranger Things, Cobra Kai and The Floor is Lava way more than the latest self-cannibalising Star Wars or Marvel release from Disney. In much the same way Amazon has built itself into a grown-ups streaming service with definitely not-for-kids titles like Outlander and The Boys, Netflix has captured the teenage market in a way its rivals can only dream of.
