I would certainly add The Expanse to that list. Its probably the best, most realistic space-based TV show ever conceived and although they never got around to adapting the final 3 books (yet….) it actually segues so well into them and they did such a good job of adapting the characters for the screen that you can just jump right into book 7 after watching the series without missing anything.

I would also put Fringe on that list. What starts out as something of an X-Files ripoff soon jumps into gear as we start to unravel the shows backstory, the breaking of barriers between parallel universes and some great character moments.

And on that subject, why not the X-Files too! Skip the alien episodes and you have a fantastic series about the paranormal, fringe science and the supernatural.
