I would have wanted an outcome where Rey bins the entire idea of Jedi and Sith and starts a new philosophy based on balance rather than one-sidedness; instead of denying the darkness within her she makes peace with it instead.

This would be kind of like when Guru Patik is explaining to Aang how he cannot deny the fact he is a firebender in Avatar (if you've seen it) and has to make peace with it.
