I would perhaps argue that Ive already made the perfect interface.
The iPhone was the once-in-a-generation convergence of a century of technical developments which won’t be repeated in our lifetimes. If anyone wants the full story I thoroughly recommend reading The One Device by Brian Merchant.
My point is that Ive was just tasked with designing the chassis of the iPhone whereas it was the Apple Watch that was his personal pet project.
The smartwatch offers all the benefits of a smartphone (communication, immediate visual feedback, data tracking, payments etc) whilst being too small for any of the negatives (adverts, tracking, social media, gaming) and would be the perfect device to have for a generative AI sidekick.
