If Microsoft have proven anything it is that they operate a lot like Disney when it comes to acquisitions: it is less about talent and more about franchises. Phil Spencer strikes me as a stand-up guy and a shrewd businessman; it is likely that much of the AB rot will be hosed out straight away.
Although they’ve promised titles like Call of Duty won’t disappear from PlayStation they didn’t say who would build it. I could see Call of Duty getting farmed out to 343 whilst they give Infinity Ward a bottomless budget to build the next Halo thereby ensuring the best talent goes on the biggest exclusives.
The AB play was also largely about King and getting a slice of the lucrative mobile gaming pie, a space unusually not dominated by any of the classic gaming corporations despite being ripe for the taking.
