If spatial computing is the future then architecture will need to take into account its future as the backdrop of software. Surfaces will have to be ‘in-busy’ so as not to distract or ‘busy’ the view of the user. At the same time it will need to be calming for those who choose not to engage in spatial computing.
Rather than some floating desktop, the future will be every wall, window, signage and window as a potential host to an AR UI. This will not be app-dependent as it is now but rather the device will pull in and parse data given off by the IOT from all around us.
It will be immersive for those within but unplugging will be as simple as removing some glasses.
