If the title said 'last 15 years' I might have agreed with it but 60? That's everything from 1972 onwards.

We had things like SCART which standardised TV inputs across dozens of countries way before HDMI came along. We had GSM which not only standardised mobile communication across the continent but eventually the whole planet. SMS. Critics might have heard of ARM technology at the centre of every non-Intel computing device? British invention. Oh, and a little something called the Internet.

Before the iPhone, every major innovation in mobile phones came from european companies like Ericsson and Nokia. European games developers have been putting out blockbuster titles like Witcher 3, Assassin's Creed, GTA and Horizon Zero Dawn.

Then you have stuff outside the consumer electronics space: IVF treatment, cloning, Graphene etc etc.
