I’m quite biased as I used to be a teacher of Design and Technology, however I see your points.

I always felt the issue was how we embraced the technology. I once taught a class on the influence of advertising and I got the students to grab a video camera and make their own ads.

They then edited them together and we had a presentation. Here the students learned teamwork, framing and capture skills and video processing. I’ve done similar classes with top-down stop motion animation.

Technology was adopted but only for its own sake. I can’t say I’ve ever seen many teachers doing what I did.
