It could be argued that from the look on Boris’s face the next day he didn’t think remain would lose either. I have no doubt that he 100% piggybacked it as a route into No. 10 and still thinks that actually leaving was a very stupid thing to do. Had leave lost he would probably still been elected as PM as he would still have the support of disgruntled leave voters.
