It is quite possible that life outside our own world developed in its own unique ways too. We as humans assume that because life on our own planet arose in a very specific way, this must be the only way. Whilst perhaps scientifically arrogant, it is also a very sensible conclusion
But it might not be the only one. We know of abiogenesis but we have so far been unable to recreate even the start of our own creation. It may be that this process is able to take lots of different shapes and sizes.
We are goldfish in an opaque bowl in this regard and assume that the only life that can exist must need water and glass.
