It would help if Apple at least put it in reach of your thumb. IOS (and Android) has needed a ground-up rebuild for bigger phone sizes for years now and the inaccessibility of control centre with one hand is a perfect example of how phone OS UX is all over the place.

In an ideal scenario 100% of interactions would be within the bottom third ‘hot zone’ and useable with one thumb (whilst your other hand has a pet/child/shopping/tube rail in it).

This could actually be solved quite easily by putting control centre to the RH side in the multi-tasking view that otherwise has a lot of wasted space. The Lock Screen could use the same gesture, replacing the camera shortcut swipe which isn’t needed due to the button at the bottom.
