Android could function as a nonprofit; it would just have to charge a licensing fee instead of remaining open source. But take it from the hands of Google and all that targeted data dries up. People search the web for all sorts of random crap; it’s not reliable data for ad so they have to become more generic, more ‘roadside billboard’
