In the 1990's popular welsh rock outfit Manic Street Preachers achieved commercial success and took a slight MOR turn and alienated a lot of fans.

A couple of years later they released Masses Against The Classes, an absolute rock anthem which includes the deep cut lyrics:

Success is an ugly word

especially in your tiny world

They bought it in droves and got it to number one in the UK charts.
