I've travelled all over the tech universe, from platform to platform. I still think webOS was the best mobile OS ever made and the Xbox 360/Windows Phone 8 ecosystem my favourite use of the term.
But I find myself always coming back to Apple. It helps immensely that you can buy *any* Mac made in the last decade and as long as you don't expect it to run Final Cut it will be a solid machine still compatible with iCloud and Music.
I've lost access to hundreds of Android apps over the years and yet I can still go to my iOS purchased list and scroll all the way back to 25th August 2008 and redownload Par 72 Golf or Frotz, 2 ancient apps still supported by their developer I installed the day the app store opened in the UK.
iTunes Match is still central to my media consumption habits. There are too many gaps in Spotify and Apple Music so knowing I can access ripped CDs from the cloud (and on Homepod) as part of my Apple Music sub is invaluable.
I've mentioned the app parity gap before. Android does have infinitely more interesting hardware right now but it still lacks killer apps to make good use of it. Samsung could build a phone that folds from an A4 sheet to a postage stamp and it still wouldnt be as useful as an iPad Mini.
Apple isnt a perfect company. The iPhone lineup is pretty stingey compared to the S23 range. iPadOS is full of weird interactions and homescreen icons still float to the top away from your thumb.
But I'll put up with all this because it just does bloody work.
