Just remember folks that whilst the GOP will blame the Dems for high levels of government spending, they themselves maintained that same level when in power but also cut taxes for their rich benefactors so had to ramp up borrowing to keep the country moving.

The same thing happened over here in the UK. Gov borrowing has soared under the right wing Tories as they find their low tax policies do not work when trying to run a functional state in the 21st Century.
