Magsafe would be wasted on a tablet. It would mean making the back from glass which would add to the weight and fragility.

Assuming the iPhone version of Magsafe, its also slower than wired charging. The power needs of the iPad are much higher than an iPhone which is why it still ships with a high-wattage charger. Magsafe would not be able to provide for these needs.

What they should put in is a second USB-C port. That would be a lot more useful.
